Wax melts are a great way to add fragrance to your home. They are solid pieces of wax, that have had fragrance oil added to them, as well as colour, glitter or botanicals.
Unlike candles, they have no wick, and you do not light them.
Instead they are placed in a special burner, which is either electric, or has a tealight placed underneath.
As the burner warms up, the wax melts and releases the fragrance oil. You can vary the scent throw (strength) by using smaller or larger wax melts.
The length of time your fragrance will last depends upon the size of the wax melt you are using, but you can turn off the burner/extinguish the tealight and relight it at a later time. The wax will slowly cool and harden, but can be reused until all of the fragrance oil has evaporated, then replaced.
Wax melts are a long-lasting and cheaper option to candles, plus you can change the scent whenever you like. Some people consider them a safer option, especially when used in an electric burner. They don't produce any sooty smoke, making them safer for people with asthma or allergies.
